Great article, I agree that employee referral programs are essential to an effective recruitment strategy. It is important to provide incentives so that employees feel encouraged to participate in referral. It is also important to send out many emails regarding open positions and to ensure that everyone knows about the program and what the openings are. Also, in order to avoid employees referring friends or acquaintances who may not even be adequately suited for the position, the employee should be required to fill out a form about the candidate and why they believe that person would be a good fit in the company or that position. I contribute to a blog about social recruitment, one of our writers wrote about creating effective employee referral programs as well, check it out for more tips: http://employers.identified.com/blog/?Tag=Employee+Referral
